Saturday NHL action brings us to Little Caesars Arena where the Ottawa Senators visit the Detroit Red Wings.

The Ottawa Senators are looking for a strong finish to the regular season and might be on their way following a 3-2 OT win versus Florida on Thursday. The Panthers saw Aaron Ekblad and Evgenii Dadonov score in the second with James Reimer allowing three goals on 30 shots.

The Senators received regulation tallies off the sticks of Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Magnus Paajarvi before Pageau scored his second at 4:44 of the extra session. Craig Anderson improved to 22-23-6 with two goals allowed on 26 shots.

The Detroit Red Wings have had trouble stringing wins together but have a shot at a third straight win after dumping Buffalo 6-3 on Thursday. Jack Eichel, Ryan O’Reilly and Evan Rodrigues scored for the Sabres with Chad Johnson stopped 9-12 shots to get the loss before Robin Lehner allowed three goals on 32 shots in relief.

Six players scored for Detroit with Dylan Larkin, Darren Helm, Anthony Mantha, Andreas Athanasou, Danny DeKeyser and Evgeny Svechnikov all lighting the lamp. The Red Wings scoring burst made Jimmy Howard’s 29 saves an easy winner.

Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 Saturday games and over is 5-1 in Senators last 6 vs. Atlantic and Senators are 1-4 in their last 5 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation. Over is 4-0 in Red Wings last 4 vs. Atlantic and over is 4-0 in Red Wings last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and over is 4-0 in Red Wings last 4 overall. Under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and Senators are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Detroit and home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

I wouldn’t bet two struggling teams in the final week of the season and expect a great outcome so use caution…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
