The Wings look to make up some ground in the race for the Atlantic crown as they welcome the Flyers to the Joe on Sunday.
The Philadelphia Flyers are looking to grab a rare road win on Sunday and continued their ascent up the Metro division standings as they head into Detroit to battle the Red Wings. Philadelphia has looked very good over the last couple of weeks and while they remain in seventh place in the Metro division they are only three points out of fourth and are still very much a part of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference. The Flyers are 8-10-3 on the road this season and will likely send Steve Mason to the crease tonight while the Wings are 11-8-4 at home and will counter with Petr Mrazek.
The Red Wings have been up and down for most of the season but are quietly 9 games above 500 heading into today’s game with the Flyers and could very well end up within two points of the division lead by the end of the weekend. The Wings are a solid bunch that has a lot to look forward to this season and if they can add a piece at the trade deadline they could be tough to beat as they have a nice balance of youth and experience and if Mrzaek is in the crease come playoff time it could give them a huge edge. While I like the way the Flyers are playing of late I think the edge goes to the home side here as they get the two points .
