The San Jose Sharks look to keep their point’s streak intact as they head into Joe Louis Arena to take on a Red Wings team looking to avenge a loss in their last outing.
The Sharks have raced to an impressive start to the season as they’re 7-0-1 on the year so far and have earned at least a point in every single contest to date and they’ll look to continue that success on the road against one of their former Western Conference foes. San Jose began very familiar with the Red Wings over the years as both were perennial Western Conference juggernauts and were constantly in battle for playoff positioning. Now that the Wings have been moved to the East the clubs won’t face each other nearly as often but we can fully expect that this will be a hard fought affair between two of the league’s best teams. Antii Niemi is likely to get the start for the Sharks against Jimmy Howard for Detroit.
The Wings head into this contest coming off a loss but they have looked very good this season and were the team to unseat the Avalanche and their undefeated record on the road in Denver last week. The Wings have the opportunity to spoil the party once again as the Sharks have yet to lose in regulation and with the way San Jose has played at both ends of the rink it is no wonder why they haven’t lost yet. Jimmy Howard will have to play his best in this one as he is a huge part of the team’s success but against a high powered Sharks offense that is easier said than done. San Jose is the better team at the moment and getting this value with them isn’t something I’m willing to pass up on.
