The St. Louis Blues go on the road to face the Detroit Red Wings in a Wednesday NHL matchup.
The St. Louis Blues have been in a bit of a funk that has seen losses in six of eight after an 8-4 defeat to visiting Winnipeg on Saturday. David Perron, Vladimir Tarasenko, Ryan O’Reilly and Pat Maroon all produced goals for St. Louis. Chad Johnson gave up six goals on 25 shots for the Blues with Jake Allen stopping 9-11 in relief.
Patrik Laine paced the Winnipeg offensive explosion with five goals with Blake Wheeler, Brandon Tanev and Brendan Lemieux also lighting the lamp. Bryan Little and Kyle Connor added four assists each and Laurent Brossoit gave up four goals on 27 shots to get the win for the Jets.
The Detroit Red Wings were playing well but are now looking at a three game skid after falling 7-5 to visiting Columbus on Monday. Anthony Mantha scored twice for Detroit with Gustav Nyqvist, Mike Green and Dennis Cholowski also joining the scoring column. Frans Nielsen gave the Red Wings two helpers and Jonathan Bernier took the loss with three goals allowed on 15 shots before Jimmy Howard came in to stop 13-16 shots. Pierre-Luc Duboise led Columbus with a pair of markers with Josh Anderson, Artemi Panarin, Markus Nutivarra, Boone Jenner and Seth Jones lighting lamp. Sergei Bobrovsky recorded 27 saves to pick up the win for the Blue Jackets.
