The St. Louis Blues visit the Motor City to face the Detroit Red Wings in NHL hockey on Wednesday.
The St. Louis Blues looked like a team with no direction until Ken Hitchcock was replaced by Mike Yeo and the team has responded with wins in five of six after knocking off the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 on Saturday. Patrik Bergjund was the Blues offensive star with his first career hat trick with David Perron also finding the back of the net to give Jake Allen the victory that lifted the team to their 4th consecutive win on the road. The Canadiens controlled play in this one but managed just a pair of goals off the sticks of Max Pacioretty and Shea Weber but Al Montoya gave up three goals to absorb the loss as the Habs fell to 1-4-1 the last six times out.
The Detroit Red Wings need a strong finish to keep their playoff hopes alive but they will need to quickly forget about their 6-3 loss at Minnesota on Sunday. The Wild seemed to pounce on every Red Wings mistakes with a trio of power play tallies. Zach Parise pace the Wild offense with a pair of goals with Nino Niederreiter, Charlie Coyle and Mikael Granlund also scoring to make a winner of Devan Dubnyk and his 30 stops. Minnesota is atop the Western Conference and lead the Blackhawks with a few games in hand. The Detroit offense came from Henrik Zetterberg, Andreas Athanasiou and Anthony Mantha with Jared Coreau absorbing the loss with 23 saves.
