The Red Wings return home looking to play their way back into the series as the Bolts lead 2-0 after back to back wins at home.
The Tampa Bay Lightning were written off by a lot of people in the Eastern Conference playoffs after Steven Stamkos was sidelined but they have replied with two solid wins against the Red Wings to start the playoffs and could very well go on another deep run if they can get continued balance offensively. The Bolts also have one of the best goalies in the league in Ben Bishop and he gives them a big edge over the Red Wings in that department as Jimmy Howard hasn’t been great this season and with a soft bracket in the Atlantic the Bolts could very well cruise to another Eastern Conference final.
The Red Wings meanwhile return home looking to get back in the series after dropping both games in Tampa to start the series and will need the Joe Louis faithful to give them a boost as they have looked out of sorts so far. Detroit has become synonymous with playoff hockey and after qualifying this year for a 25th straight season it is remarkable to see how consistent they have been but their mark in the playoffs of late has been modest at best and I don’t see it changing this season. The Wings could very well be on the outs after this home stand and while we should give them the benefit of the doubt to get at least one win at home I am not happy supporting them and I think the Lightning get it done on the road at a great price.
