Joe Louis Arena and the Detroit Red Wings look for another win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Tampa Bay Lightning and their high powered offense were supposed to have the advantage over the Detroit Red Wings but after an odd loss in game one and a 3-0 loss at Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday the Lightning are on their heels a bit with a 2-1 series deficit heading in to game number four on Thursday. Even though the offense piled up the shots in the first two games that wasn’t the case Tuesday with only 22 shots put on Detroit netminder Petr Mrazek. With the offense stalled the pressure to win was squarely on the shoulders of Ben Bishop who was charged with three goals on 21 shots. The power play was no help with an 0-6 performance with the man advantage.
The Detroit Red Wings find themselves in position to take a commanding 3-1 series lead on Thursday following a 3-0 whitewash of a strong Tampa Bay squad. After posting just 14 shots in a strange series opening win and then getting blasted in game two, the Red Wings finally played a quality game from start to finish in game number three where both ends of the ice were effective. Pavel Datsyuk gave the Wings a 1-0 bulge in the first with Ryan Sheahan doubling the lead with the man advantage in the third before Luke Glendening took all the mystery out of this on with an empty net tally. Petr Mrazek was strong between the pipes with 22 saves for his second shutout of Tampa Bay this season.
