The Vancouver Canucks go on the road to face the Detroit Red Wings in Sunday NHL.
The Vancouver Canucks take the ice at the Detroit Red Wings for their 4th straight road contest. Vancouver will be looking for back to back wins after upending the Buffalo Sabres 4-2 on Friday night where both ends of the ice contributed.
Derek Dorsett paced the Canucks offense with a pair of goals while Markus Granlund and Daniel Sedin also lit the lamp. Brandon Sutter logged a pair of helpers and Jacob Markstrom recorded 20 stops to lift Vancouver.
Jack Eichel and Justin Bailey scored for the Sabres in the first period for a 2-1 lead heading in to the second but the offense couldn’t keep the momentum going. Buffalo struggled to keep the puck off of Chad Johnson who allowed three goals on 40 shots.
The Detroit Red Wings need a win when the Vancouver Canucks come to town Sunday night. Detroit couldn’t keep the Washington Capitols under wraps Friday in a 4-3, overtime defeat for loss number three in a row.
Alex Ovechkin gave the Capitols the win with his NHL best 10th goal less then two minutes in to the extra session . Andre Burakovsky, TJ Oshie and Jay Beagle scored in regulation for the Caps and Braden Holtby stopped 34 shots to help put an end to a three game skid.
The Red Wings saw Tomas Tater light the lamp twice and Darren Helm scored unassisted to give Detroit a 1-0 lead. The loss went to Petr Mrazek who allowed all four goals on 41 shots to absorb the loss for the Wings.
