The Oilers look to rebound after back to back losses on the West Coast as they return home to complete their set with the Anaheim Ducks.
Anaheim continues to be the class of the NHL this season as they currently sit atop the league standings with 43 points with their two latest coming at the expense of the Edmonton Oilers in their show down on Wednesday night in Anaheim. The Ducks take to the road for their next two this weekend as they look to complete the sweep of the Oilers before heading to Winnipeg to face the surprising Jets who will look to use home ice to their advantage in a pivotal show down on Saturday. The Ducks are loaded all over the ice and are very tough to beat and while Edmonton is in desperation mode and have been playing much better over the last two weeks the bottom line remains they are already in the midst of a lost season and have a ton of changes on the horizon. Frederik Andersen is expected to get the call here for the Ducks as he will go up against Ben Scrivens for the Oil.
The Oilers are in shambles and while they skated to a victory over the Sharks the last time they were at home which ended their ugly 11 game losing streak they added two more to the loss column this week against San Jose and these Anaheim Ducks. Edmonton is likely in for an overhaul happening sooner rather than later and what exactly they do or who they move out remains to be seen but the fan base, coaches, management, and the players are tired of the way things are going and perhaps moving on is the best course of action for everyone. They return home here before a matchup on Sunday and this again is just a bad spot for Edmonton despite playing the Ducks to a 2-1 final on Wednesday. I will side with the total here though as I think Anaheim will look ahead to the Jets on Saturday so I forsee a little sloppier game and I think goals will come early and often.
