The Coyotes look to build on their big 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames last night as they continue their Alberta road trip in Edmonton on Saturday.
The Arizona Coyotes continued their push towards a wild card playoff spot with a big victory against the Calgary Flames last night and they can complete the Alberta sweep with a win against the Edmonton Oilers tonight who have been playing much better over the last week and a half. Arizona has been the surprise team in the NHL’s Pacific division this season as they have exceeded expectations and are in the ix for a playoff spot despite having a very young core and some difficulty scoring goals but if they’re going to salvage this Cinderella run they need to push now as they are nine points back of the Colorado Avalanche. Arizona is likely to go with Louis Domingue in this one as he will be countered by a red hot Cam Talbot who is the best hockey of his career.
The Oilers have escaped the Western Conference basement for the time being and are coming off a big win against the Minnesota Wild on the road for just their 11th win outside of Rexall this season. Edmonton continues to have a stockpile of young forwards and while Darnell Nurse and Oscar Klefbom will be key pieces on the blue line for years to come they still don’t have the defense to match their forwards and as such they Oil are enduring another tough season. Edmonton has been surprisingly strong at home this season and while they traditionally struggle against the Coyotes I actually like them a lot here despite Arizona desperately needing the victory. Take the Oilers in this one.
