The Oilers look to snap their losing skid with an inspired effort on home ice tonight while the Hawks aim for their third win in a row and 11th of the season.
The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off back to back wins and currently sit in fifth place in the log jammed Central division but sit four points out of second and will look to generate some momentum with a big effort against Edmonton. Chicago has had struggles on the road this season as they're just 2-5 away from the United Center and have had some difficulties in recent memory against the Oilers and they know that Edmonton will be giving them a full team effort in this one. Corey Crawford is expected to suit up in the crease and he will go up against Anders Nilsson who is splitting time with Cam Talbot in the Edmonton net.
The Oilers have had a tough time winning hockey games this season and even more so without Connor McDavid in the line up and as losers of back to back games and seven of their last 10 overall they have plummeted to the bottom of the Pacific division. Luckily for Edmonton, the Pacific hasn't had one clear cut team emerge as the top dog yet and they are still in the mix if they can turn things around in a hurry and a win on home ice against the Blackhawks would be a catalyst to getting there. Taylor Hall and Leon Draisatl have been great since McDavid went down and if they and the rest of the offense can put together a fill 60 minutes they have a great shot at winning here and that's what I'm banking on
