Chicago Blackhawks (16-4-4) at Edmonton Oilers (7-15-2)
|Date & Time||Monday November 25, 2013, 9:30 PM (EST)|
The Line: Edmonton Oilers +162 / Chicago Blackhawks -178 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Oilers take their three game winning streak into Monday’s encounter with the Blackhawks as both teams look to continue their winning ways.
The Blackhawks continue to be one of it not the best team in the league this season just months removed from winning their second Stanley Cup title in four seasons and they could very well hoist a third this June. Chicago remains one of the deepest teams in the game as they have four lines of extreme competition, a stalwart defensive unit, and a tandem of goaltenders that prove every night they can keep their team in games and even steal one or two of them every now and then. Chicago will head into Edmonton to take on the suddenly surging Oilers as they look to hand them a dose of reality. Corey Crawford will get the start for the Hawks while the Oilers counter with this week’s NHL Third Star Devan Dubnyk.
The Oilers are a team that many have high expectations for but perhaps none higher stem from within the organization itself. The team hasn’t made the playoffs since they fell to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 7 of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals and with a plethora of high end draft picks making up the balance of the roster the fan base is itching for a rebirth and a challenge at the Cup. However, the last few seasons including the beginning portion of this one have been marked with extreme disappointment as they can’t seem to find any consistency and as such they end up looking from the outside in when it comes to the playoffs. They have won three straight contests giving them some momentum but I am fearful of a long layoff being detrimental especially with a tough Blackhawks team coming to town tonight and that’s where my money is. I’m taking Chicago to put things into perspective tonight.
