The Dallas Stars might only have an 8-7-2 record this season but if you look at this stretch of games they've had since the beginning of November it looks a little more impressive. Since the start of the month the Stars have played Colorado, Ottawa, Boston, Detroit, and Chicago. They came away with seven of a possible 10 points and wins over the Senators, Bruins, and Red Wings. That's a tall order for any club but Lindy Ruff has this team in games night after night. They've still got a lot of work to do but the results are promising. If they have hopes of the playoffs this year they'll need to win games like Wednesday night's contest with the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are a mess and can't get out of their own way. They're 22nd in the league in goals per game, 30th in goals against, 22nd on the penalty kills, and they've got a below average power play. This is a disaster and there doesn't seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel right now. Until this club learns to play some defense and gets more consistent goaltending it's hard to see things improving. Since neither of those are bound to happen anytime soon this looks like it could be a long year for the Oilers.
