The Line: Edmonton Oilers -130 / San Jose Sharks +118 --- Over/Under: 5.5
NHL action comes to Rogers Place where the Edmonton Oilers host the San Jose Sharks on Monday.
The San Jose Sharks have been playing strong defense and have gotten quality goaltending to keep the pressure off the offense but have not done this in losing two of three following a 4-3, overtime loss at the Vancouver Canucks on Friday. Brent Burns paced the San Jose attack with a pair of goals with Marcus Sorensen also scoring with Martin Jones making 36 stops in the loss.
The Canucks received a pair of goals from Marcus Granlund with Brock Boeser also scoring in regulation. Sam Gagner scored with 26 seconds remaining in overtime and Daniel and Henrik Sedin added three assists each to lift Jacob Markstrom and the Canucks to the win.
It’s much too early in the season for teams to begin panicking but the Edmonton Oilers really need to begin a winning streak. Edmonton is coming off of a 3-2 win at the Minnesota Wild where the team had a 3-1 third period lead and managed to hold on against one of the hottest teams in the game. Matt Dumba scored both goals for the Wild with Alex Stalock stopping 26 shots.
The Oilers attack featured scoring from Milan Lucic and Jesse Puljujari with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scoring a shorthanded goal. Lucic also logged an assist to help Cam Talbot up his record to 11-10-1 with a 29 save performance.
Under is 6-0 in Sharks last 6 Monday games and under is 4-1 in Sharks last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400 and under is 9-3 in Sharks last 12 road games. Under is 13-2-1 in Oilers last 16 Monday games and Oilers are 3-13 in their last 16 games following a win and Oilers are 2-8 in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Sharks are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings.
If I were betting this I would just do something small for an interest on Edmonton…
