The Maple Leafs look to sweep the season series against the Edmonton Oilers as the teams finish off their home and home set at Rexall Place tonight.
The Maple Leafs continue their Alberta road trip on Thursday night with a date with the Edmonton Oilers as they look to salvage an Alberta sweep after dropping a tough 4-3 decision to Calgary on Tuesday. The Leafs made news off the ice this week by shipping their captain to their provincial and division rivals and received some pieces in return that will likely see game action tonight against the Oilers. Toronto will turn to the likes of Milan Michalek and Jared Cowen to get them through the stretch of the regular season as they are pretty well a shoe in not to make the playoffs but they are set up very nicely to make some noise at the trade deadline and into the free agent period that begins in the summer. The Leafs are 11-16-2 on the road this season while the Oilers are 14-10-1 at home.
The Oilers have been dealt some pretty nasty losses over the last week or so and while they showed up fighting against the Devils on Tuesday they dropped their third in a row and have fallen back into the Western Conference basement. Edmonton does have Connor McDavid back though and he will get his first crack at his child hood team as he was on the shelf during their match up in Toronto which was a game most Oilers fans would love to forget. Edmonton is a tougher opponent on home ice and while they are getting a bit too much love here from the odds makers I do think they have enough to split the season series and get a win here.
