he Edmonton Oilers look for another home ice victory as they welcome in the Vancouver Canucks to Rogers Place on Saturday night.
The Canucks play their second game in as many nights after taking on the Anaheim Ducks last night and now face an Oilers side that will be well rested and coming off a big win at home against the Los Angeles Kings. Vancouver has elevated their play of late though and are perhaps getting back to their early season form that left them as the last undefeated team in the NHL, albeit just a four game winning streak to start the season. The Canucks are expected to go with Jakob Markstrom in this spot as he will have the unenviable task of keeping the Edmonton offense at bay, and he will be countered by Cam Talbot who has become a staple in the Edmonton goal and is enjoying a very nice campaign of his own.
The Oilers have seemingly turned a corner and are starting to look more like a playoff contender instead of a draft lottery participant and that is music to the ears of the Oilers faithful who have endured a very tumultuous stretch of futility. Edmonton will look to utilize their team speed up top to wear down a Canucks side that is playing on back to back nights back the Canucks have a group of youngsters as well that are the core of their team moving forward and in a rivalry game you can bet both sides will be ready for an exciting show down in Edmonton.
The Canucks are 1-4 in their last five playing in a 3-4 set and 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games while the Oilers are 4-1 in their last five overall and 5-2 in their last seven against a team with a losing record. Vancouver played well last night but are huge underdogs here and I think the Oilers implement their game plan effectively in another win at home.
