The Ducks look to get back in the win column and maintain their lead in the Pacific division standings as they head into Sunrise to take on the Florida Panthers.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to avoid dropping back to back games but they'll have to do so without Frederik Andersen between the pipes as their work horse goaltender suffered a neck injury after being hit by the crossbar and will likely miss the next few games as a result. Anaheim has been lights out this season sporting the game's second best record and have the largest divisional lead in the NHL and with the trade deadline fast approaching it'll be interesting to see if the team adds a piece or two or whether they stand pat and move into the postseason with the roster that has given them so much success this season. The Ducks will likely go with Ilya Bryzgalov here as John Gibson remains on the shelf and while Bryz has had his time as a number one option in this league he is far from his glory days and has been a liability over the last couple of seasons so Anaheim will have to step up their game defensively if they want to keep moving forward.
The Panthers meanwhile have had an up and down season and have stumbled to a 3-5-2 record over their last 10 contests but have an opportunity here as a home dog to prove they belong in the wild card race in the Eastern Conference. Florida sits six points back of the Boston Bruins for the second and final wild card spot in the East and if they can get back in the win column and start building momentum they could very well pull a fast one on the rest of the Eastern Conference just a year after selecting Aaron Ekblad with the first overall pick in the draft. Roberto Luongo has had some very nice games this season so he is more than capable of doing so tonight and while the Ducks are still a great team without Andersen they are much better with him and if there is any shot at Florida defeating the Ducks it'll come in this spot on home ice.
