The Coyotes look to continue their push to the playoffs with a date in Florida on Thursday against the Atlantic leading Panthers.
The Arizona Coyotes continue to stick around in the wild card race in the Western Conference and while they will have to step up their game to close out the season in order to qualify they are in a good position at the moment and have well exceeded expectations. However, with the trade deadline fast approaching they could decide to send some pieces out the door and continue their rebuild and with the young core they have on the team right now they are going to be a strong team to contend with in the very near future. Arizona has lost three games in a row and are nine back of the Sharks for the third spot in the division and with Louis Domingue slated to get the start he will have to be sharp to outduel Roberto Luongo.
The Panthers meanwhile remain one of the more unexpected stories of the NHL season as they have gone from missing the playoffs a season ago to leading the Atlantic division and are in a really nice spot at the moment to lock up top spot. Florida is a really well balanced team and have some world class talent at every position including between the pipes as Luongo has been very solid this season. The Panthers are 19-9-4 at home this season which rivals Arizona’s disappointing 11-15-2 mark on the road and while Arizona can be sneaky and are worth a play as an underdog on most nights I just don’t see it here as Florida is the better team and should have no trouble getting the win.
