The Line: Florida Panthers +157 / Boston Bruins -173 --- Over/Under: 5
The Boston Bruins head into Florida to take on a familiar face as the hapless Panthers look for another shocking victory at home.
The Bruins head into Sunrise looking for their fourth win of the season and they’ll have to go against one of their own in the process as they get a look at their former Conn Smythe winning goaltender Tim Thomas who plays his old club for the first time since signing in Florida. The much criticized Thomas decided to take a year away from the game and in the process it left the door open for Tuukka Rask to become the team’s every day starter and he has filled in wonderfully through his first season and a bit. Despite this game being played in Florida and not back the TD Garden in Boston I fully expect both teams will be looking for two huge points and to stick it to each other based on the way things ended in Boston for Thomas as it was claimed he was a distraction off the ice and there was friction with some of the key players on the Bruins roster.
Florida is a shadow of their former division winning selves as a number of pieces have new addresses and it looks like the Panthers are committed to a full rebuild as they have some young talent and not much else at the moment. Florida has holes all over the ice but as we saw against the Penguins who came into this building thinking they would walk over the Panthers, they are still professionals with a ton of pride and I think they’ll come to play in this one at the very least for their starting goalie. However, I am not committed to Thomas in this spot despite the fact that he will be extra motivated and the main difference to me between the Bruins and Penguins in this spot is that the Bruins are a much more physical team and I think they will use that to their advantage in this one tonight. I would stay cautious here but Boston is the play if you have to make it.
