The Bruins look to retake second spot in the Atlantic division with a pivotal show down in Sunrise against the Panthers.
The Boston Bruins head into Florida on Monday night looking to take over home ice advantage in a potential first round show down with their division rivals in what is one of the marquee matchups of the day. The Bruins have been road warriors all season long and currently sit just a single point back of the Panthers for second place in the division and are only three back of the red hot Lightning who have stormed into top place with a 39-22-4 record. Boston is coming off a tough 2-1 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals but as mentioned they have been very strong on the road and sit with a 21-7-3 mark away from the TD Garden this season. Tuukka Rask is expected to get the call in the Boston crease as he will be countered by Roberto Luongo who has been confirmed as the team’s starter on Monday night.
The Panthers have cooled off a little bit since the all-star break and thanks to a surge from the Bruins and Lightning they are in limbo for home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Panthers have been a nice surprise this season and acquired some pieces at the trade deadline that put them in a nice spot for a playoff run but things won’t be easy by any means and tonight’s game is a very tough test. Despite the Panthers having a better back end and Roberto Luongo looking very good I do lean to the Bruins here who seem to defy logic and grab win after win on the road. Take the Bruins with great value.
