The Bruins look to rebound after getting shutout in Washington last night as they continue their road trip to Florida to take on the Panthers.
The Boston Bruins were unable to gain any ground on the rest of the pack in the Eastern Conference playoff race last night as they were blanked 3-0 by the surging Washington Capitals and now run the risk of missing the playoffs altogether if they can't get back in the win column. The Bruins had been playing their best hockey of the season as winners of five in a row but with just two game remaining they are tied with the Senators for the final playoff spot in the Conference and haven't been a very good road team all season which is where they find themselves once again tonight. Tuukka Rask will be the getting the call without hesitation and he will go up against Roberto Luongo who has had a pretty respectable season.
The Panthers have fallen short of the playoffs this season but for a team that is coming off selecting Aaron Ekblad with the first overall draft pick a year ago they surprised many and will be a team on the rise for the next few seasons. Florida will finish the year above .500 and will be the second team out in the Eastern Conference but that doesn't mean that they are giving up for the final two games as they would love to play the spoiler role and on home ice they have actually been quite good and stand more than a solid chance to win this one. Boston is a desperate team but they just seem a bit off this year and I think their playoff dreams could come crashing down on them over the next few days.
