The Chicago Blackhawks look for their sixth victory of the season when they head into Florida to take on a struggling Panthers bunch.
The Blackhawks are the reigning Stanley Cup champions which means that every single team gives a little bit extra when they see the Hawks on their schedule and even for teams like Florida who likely won’t do too much this season you can bet they’d love to beat the champs. Chicago is playing like they just won a title as they have just a single regulation loss this season which came at the hands of the very talented St. Louis Blues and whether the Hawks are playing at the United Center or on the road they are just as dangerous. Chicago is coming off a convincing 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs and will look to avoid a let down here against the Panthers.
Florida has had a tough go to start the season but considering their opponent’s through their first nine games they are actually playing better than some people expected. Florida’s biggest victory of the year came at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins and while the effort is impressive regardless it has to be taken with a grain of salt as Pittsburgh was playing in a back to back and had their rookie backup netminder in goal. While the Panthers couldn’t muster up enough to defeat the Boston Bruins I think they will have a little bit more success here against the Blackhawks. The only problem remains is that Florida will have a tough time scoring goals and I think the Hawks can do enough to keep the Panthers at bay and leave Sunrise with two points.
