Florida Panthers -127 / Dallas Stars +102
The Dallas Stars and the Florida Panthers meet in NHL action from the BB&T Center on Tuesday night.
The Dallas Stars will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 3-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes in their last outing. Arizona scored the lone goals in the 1st and 2nd periods to take a 2-0 lead after 20 and 40 minutes of play before the ‘Yotes made it 3-0 early in the final period. Brett Ritchie and Alexander Radulov scored a pair of goals :27 apart late in the 3rd to cut the deficit to 3-2, but that’s as close as the Stars got as Arizona held on for the win. Anton Khudobin took the loss to fall to 9-10-3 after allowing all 3 goals on 39 shots faced in the losing effort.
The Florida Panthers will look to rebound after a 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay in their last outing. Tampa opened the scoring with the lone goal of the opening period before doubling that advantage just after the midway point of the 2nd period. Frank Vatrano pulled one back for the Panthers just 1:03 later, but the Bolts would re-establish their two-goal lead. Denis Malgin pulled on back again for the Cats just :59 later to make it 3-2 after the 2nd period, but that’s as close as Florida got as the Lightning would score twice in the 3rd period to secure the win and send Florida back empty-handed. James Reimer took the loss, falling to 10-10-5 after allowing 3 goals on 12 shots before being pulled after the 2nd period.
Dallas is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall and 12-26 in their last 38 road games while the under is 8-2-1 in their last 11 games against the Atlantic division. Florida is 2-6 in their last 8 games against the Central division and 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 home games. Dallas is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Florida.
I can understand why Florida would be favored here, as Dallas hasn’t been great on the road while Florida has been alright at home and is in need of some wins down the stretch if the Cats are going to complete for a playoff spot. However, Dallas could use a win to get the bad taste out of their mouths after a loss to the Coyotes and what better place for it to come than in a venue against a Florida team that they’ve had their way with on the road over the years. I’ll take a shot with the team in the better playoff position at plus money and that’s Dallas.
