The Florida Panthers saw a much needed three game winning streak go by the wayside in a 6-1 loss at Toronto on Thursday. Henrik Borgstrom scored on the power play in the third period for the Panthers with Roberto Luongo getting the loss with five goals allowed on 22 shots.

Auston Matthews and John Tavares each lit the lamp twice for the Maple Leafs with Nazem Kadri and Mitch Marner also reaching the scoring column. Marner assisted twice and Matthews had three more assist while Morgan Rielly totaled four helpers to lift Toronto and make a winner of Frederik Andersen and his 25 saves.

The Detroit Red Wings ended a four game slide Thursday with a 4-1 victory at Carolina. The Hurricanes lone goal came off the stick of Andrei Svechnikov in the second while Petr Mrazek absorbed the loss with three goals allowed on 23 shots.

The Red Wings received scoring from Niklas Kronwall, Frans Nielsen, Jonathan Ericsson and Dylan Larkin. Jonathan Bernier picked up the win for Detroit with 38 stops as eight players posted points.

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
