The Panthers look to shake off a two game losing streak as they welcome the Edmonton Oilers to town on Monday night.
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a big win at home against their arch rivals from Calgary and will be looking to make it two in a row with a big effort here against the Atlantic division leading Florida Panthers. The Oilers sit in last place in the Western Conference but are still within striking distance of a playoff spot if they can string some victories together but their road record is a major cause for concern and that is where their improvements have to come from as they are 5-14-4 outside of Edmonton this season. Cam Talbot, fresh of a three year contract extension, will likely get the start as he will go up against Al Montoya who will get the call here with the Cats in a back to back.
The Panthers had their winning streak snapped in Vancouver last week and have now dropped three in a row heading into tonight’s contest but they remain in first place in the Atlantic with 57 points through 45 games. Florida is a pretty solid team across the board and have a shot at redemption here against an Oilers side that has been awful on the road and was involved in a play that sidelined Aaron Ekblad for a few games so they can make the Oilers pay in the standings in this one. Florida is the favourite and rightfully so but this one could be a close game and with it being a back to back I think we see a low scoring affair.
