The Line: Florida Panthers +129 / Los Angeles Kings -142 --- Over/Under: 5
The Kings look for their third straight victory while the Panthers look to build some momentum after upending the Penguins in their last outing on Friday night.
The Kings have had a tough schedule to kick off the 2013-14 season but they have made the most of it and have three victories in their first five games and will look to make it four with a win against the Panthers. Los Angeles is a very dangerous team and one many have to come out of the Western Conference this season as they have a ton of experience, great offensive depth, a solid blue line and one of the best goalies in the world. Heading into Florida however the Kings will need to stay focused and play at the level they know they can and not come out flat footed against a team they perceive to be much inferior. LA will likely start Jonathan Quick as the team was idle on Saturday but if Scrivens gets the call he is more than capable of leading them to victory.
The Panthers were massive underdogs at home against the Penguins on Friday night but they stormed out to an early lead and held on for a 6-3 final setting the tone for the early part of their season. Florida isn’t expected to do much this season but they do have some guys who can be difference makers as we saw in Sunrise on Friday night. Goaltending was pegged as the team’s biggest concern and while looking ahead it may come into play but they have to be happy with Jakob Markstrom getting more looks than anticipated after Tim Thomas went down. This is a tough spot as the line isn’t as appealing as I thought it might be after Florida’s big win against the Pens but nonetheless I am going to bite on the Kings who should have no trouble ridding of the Panthers in Florida in this spot.
