NHL action comes to the BB&T Center Friday where the Florida Panthers host the Los Angeles Kings.
The Los Angeles Kings have been playing well with wins in four of five as the tam looks to solidify their postseason position. Los Angeles comes off of a 5-2 win versus the Edmonton Oilers where both ends of the ice came up big. The Oilers received second period goals from Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid who also had an assist.
The balanced Kings offense saw five different players record goals with Kyle Clifford, Adrian Kempe, Paul LaDue, Alex Iafallo and Anze Kopitar all finding the back of the net. Trevor Lewis and Drew Doughty added two helpers apiece for Los Angeles to make a winner of Darcy Kuemper and his 25 stops while Cam Talbot made 23 saves in defeat.
The Florida Panthers entered the second half of the 2017-18 campaign need a big run to bolster their playoff hopes. Florida has certainly done their part with four consecutive victories Panthers where Markus Granlund’s shorthanded tally was the lone bright spot for the Canucks offense.
Jamie McGinn opened the scoring for the Panthers with a first period power play goal before Aleksander Barkov scored the eventual winner in the second and added an empty netter with 42 seconds remaining. Harri Sateri picked up the win for Florida with 26 saves while Jacob Markstrom took the loss with 37 saves.
Under is 7-1 in Kings last 8 Friday games and over is 5-1 in Kings last 6 vs. a team with a losing record and Kings are 4-1 in their last 5 overall. Panthers are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and over is 4-0 in Panthers last 4 Friday games and Panthers are 4-0 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. Kings are 14-3 in the last 17 meetings and under is 7-2-3 in the last 12 meetings and under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings in Florida.
Both teams are playing well which should make for a good game. I think Florida needs to control the scoreboard for their best opportunity at a win…
