The Line: Florida Panthers / Minnesota Wild --- Over/Under:
The Minnesota Wild looks to end their losing streak as they head into Sunrise to take on a Panthers team looking to build momentum.
The Wild head into Florida losers of their last two contests but will look to take their frustrations out on a Panthers team who isn’t expected to do much this season and hasn’t really done so to date. Minny was a team that had a lot of expectations last year after acquiring two of the bigger free agents on the market but they were ousted in the first round of the playoffs and were forced back to the drawing board this season. Despite sitting at .500 the Wild are much improved and have had a tough schedule thus far but things slow down a bit here as they catch a Panthers team coming off a tough loss to the Bruins and has a ton of difficulties against defensive minded clubs. Josh Harding will get the nod once again for the Wild as he has been remarkable so far in relief of Nik Backstrom.
The Panthers got Tim Thomas back in the lineup but only to square off against his former team and it was the Bruins who left with two points and the Panthers who sit with a 2-6 record and have lost three straight. Jonathan Huberdeau is a world class talent and will be among the game’s best in a few years’ time but he doesn’t have a lot of secondary support and as such the Panthers are very easy to match up against and this is a horrible situation for them. Minnesota is a team that is four lines solid, can play physically, and can put the puck in the net which is a nightmare here for the Panthers and for the value we’re getting on Minnesota I say jump on it and hammer the road team. This is a borderline premium play for me and one I will be on hard Saturday night.
