The Florida Panther get a visit from the Minnesota Wild in Friday night NHL bout.
The Minnesota Wild are on the third leg of a four game road swing with a stop too face the Florida Panthers for the first time in 2017-18. Minnesota has won seven of ten after outscoring the Ottawa Senators 6-4 on Wednesday night. Ottawa received two goals from Erik Karlsson with Derick Brassard and Jean-Gabriel Pageau also scoring.
Eric Staal paced an explosive Wild offense with a pair of tallies with Jonas Brodin, Nate Prosser, Chris Stewart and Miko Koivu also lighting the lamp. Charlie Coyle added a pair of helpers to make Alex Stalock and his 28 stops a winner while Craig Anderson absorbed the loss with 34 saves.
The Florida Panthers return home from a grueling five game road trip looking to turn their season around before it’s too late. Florida will be aiming for consecutive victories after downing the Arizona Coyotes 3-2 on Tuesday night. The struggling Coyotes attack took a 2-0 lead on a first period goal by Christian Fischer and in the second from Derek Stepan.
Nick Bjugstad got the Panthers on the board with just ten seconds left in the second with Denis Malgin and Mike Matheson lighting the lamp in the third. Evgeni Dadanov gave Florida a pair of assists to help James Reimer to the win with 39 saves while Antti Raanta stopped 23 shots in the loss.
Under is 4-0 in Wild last 4 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and Wild are 4-0 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and under is 4-1 in Wild last 5 overall. Over is 6-0 in Panthers last 6 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game and over is 8-1 in Panthers last 9 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days and Panthers are 1-5 in their last 6 games following a win. Wild are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and under is 6-2-4 in the last 12 meetings.
The Panthers should be dangerous with some rest and home cooking but for now I’ll take the hotter squad…
