The Canadiens look to shake off a tough loss to the Lightning on Monday as they continue their road trip in Sunrise looking for a split in Florida.
The Canadiens suffered a 4-2 loss in Tampa last night and were swept by the Bolts in the season series and have given Tampa a ton of momentum in the race for the Atlantic division crown. Montreal has been as good as any team in the league this season and much like they have a pretty intense mental edge on the Boston Bruins it looks as though Tampa has the same edge on the Habs at least this season and that could be huge going into the playoffs. Montreal sits tied atop the division with the Lightning but they do have a game in hand which could net a win in tonight's contest against the Panthers who are also competing for a playoff spot and could face the return of Florida goaltender and Montreal native Roberto Luongo. Dustin Tokarski is expected to get the call in goal for the Habs with Price getting the night off after a loss last night.
The Panthers are in the mix for an Eastern Conference wild card spot but their luck is slowly running out as they sit six points back of the Bruins and have quite a tough schedule ahead including tonight's matchup with the Habs. Florida has enjoyed a nice bounce back season but it could be all for not as they look destined to come up a couple of points short and instead will have to add a few pieces via free agency as they're too far removed from the main core of elite level draft picks. The Panthers are a surprising -22 in goal differential and the Habs are +27 and even with Tokarski going here the Canadiens should redeem themselves not only from last night's loss but a loss at home earlier this season to the Cats.
