The Panthers look to inch closer to wrapping up the Atlantic division as they host the Montreasl Canadiens on Saturday night.
The Canadiens continue to play out the string on their very disappointing season as they take to the Sunshine State to face off against the Panthers on Saturday. Montreal has gone from an Eastern Conference power to a league doormat over night and while a lot of it has to do with the absence of Carey Price I think there are a number of concerns that need to be addressed in the off season if Montreal is going to rebound in a hurry. The Habs sit 11 points back of the playoffs and are sitting in fourth to last in the Eastern Conference, sitting only above the Sabres, Blue Jackets, and Maple Leafs. Mike Condon is expected to get the start in this one as he will face off against Roberto Luongo.
The Panthers meanwhile have had a very successful season and while it looks like it is just a formality at this point that they qualify for the playoffs they do have to play out the string in what will be a competitive week and half for them. Roberto Luongo looks rejuvenated since making his return to Sunrise and has been a huge part of the team’s success this season and as we have seen from him in the past he is capable of leading his team on a deep playoff run and the Cats will be leaning heavily on him this season. As for tonight, I am a little weary of the line as Montreal seems to show up in games like this but with the division title still up for grabs I think Florida will show up in a big way.
