The Islanders and Panthers meet up in Florida on Friday night in a pivotal game five show down that will give the victor a 3-2 series lead.
The Islanders spoiled a great opportunity to put the Panthers on the brink of elimination as the Cats got a huge win at the Barclay’s Center on Wednesday night and now they take to the road looking to avoid going down 3-2. The Isles were woeful on the road this season while the Cats actually played pretty well both at home and away and while they have home ice advantage back after splitting the first four games the Panthers would love to finish things off on the road after a big win in Sunrise tonight. New York will stick it out with Thomas Greiss in the crease as he will face off against Roberto Luongo.
The Panthers return home after a big time effort on the road in game four and no have a great chance at moving to within a single victory of the Atlantic division championship series. Florida has shown resiliency all season long and continue to be a team that gets disrespected even as the top seed in the Atlantic division but if they can get two more victories in their next four games they will move onto the second round for the first time since 1996. The Cats are strong at home and while some trends are thrown in the playoffs I just think they have been the better of the two teams in this series thus far and we see again why with another Florida win on Friday night.
