It's amazing how quickly things can change in this league and there's no better example of that than the Philadelphia Flyers. Left for dead after an atrocious start to the year and a coaching change, the Flyers have really gotten things together of late under Craig Berube. The Flyers have won six of their last seven games and now head into Sunrise, a place where they never seem to lose. Philadelphia got three goals in the first four minutes of the second period on Saturday night and that was enough to get by the New York Islanders 5-2. Matt Read, Wayne Simmonds, and Claude Giroux all capitalized against an Islanders club that lost their way early in the middle frame and allowed the Flyers to take over the game .Steve Mason continued his strong play in net, making 36 saves to pick up the win. The Flyers will look to keep things going against a Panthers club that's trying to resurrect their season just the same. Florida has been playing better hockey since making their coaching change as well but they still aren't a hockey club that's comprised of enough talent to be competitive on a nightly basis. There are a lot of young kids trying to find their way here in the National Hockey league and while the effort is there it's still a challenge for the Panthers. Florida won two straight games over Colordao and Vancouver but couldn't keep it going against the lowly Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames. The Panthers got third period goals from Jimmy Hayes and Marcel Goc to tie the game at 3-3 in Calgary but Tim Thomas couldn't bail them out in the shooutout. Thomas has been a disappointment in his first season in Florida, posint just a .908 save percentage and 2.79 goals against average. The Flyers are 5-0 their last five trips to Florida and the road team is 9-2 the last 11 meetings in this series.
