The Penguins look for their third straight victory as they head to Florida to take on the Panthers who have lost 6 of 10.

Pittsburgh is starting to get healthy and that is incredibly scary for the rest of the NHL as they’re finally playing like the team everyone thought they could be. The Pens are loaded offensively and now with Evgeni Malkin playing up to potential and James Neal back from an oblique injury the puck is finding the back of the net at a very nice rate for the Pens and now they get a Panthers team who is among the worst in the NHL. Pittsburgh showed a ton of resiliency in defeating the Maple Leafs earlier this week on home ice after finding themselves down by three goals and rallying for the win and now they can pad their lead in the Metro division with a victory over the Panthers. Marc Andre Fleury gets the nod for the Pens as they go up against Tim Thomas for the Panthers.

The Panthers have started to play better of late but they’re nowhere close to being at the level of the Penguins giving the Pens a huge edge on the line here despite being on the road. The Panthers have just seven wins this season but one of them did come against the Penguins in this building so if there is a vote of confidence for the Panthers they can fall back on that however it was in the early going and the Pens weren’t at full strength. Florida does have some young talent that will surely grow into a solid core in a couple of years but until that point they are a team that will likely be on auto fade especially against some of the best teams in the league. Tim Thomas has found success against some of the better teams in the NHL but he doesn’t have the same team in front of him as he did two years ago and I think we see it here. Take the Pens to close this one out easily.
