NHL action comes to the BB&T Center where the Florida Panthers host the Vancouver Canucks.

The Vancouver Canucks are trying to save their season so there isn’t room for too many defeats. Vancouver had won consecutive contests before suffering a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Canucks offense came to life late with Thomas Vanek and Brock Boeser scoring.

The balanced Tampa Bay attack featured four different players scoring with Chris Kunitz, Victor Hedman, Yanni Gourde and Cory Conacher each finding the back of the net. Nikita Kucherov gave the Lightning a pair of helpers to make Andrei Vasilevskiy and his 31 stops a winner while Jacob Markstrom made 24 saves in the loss.

The Florida Panthers have their backs against the wall as the team tries to keep their postseason hopes afloat. Florida has won four in a row after squeezing by the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Saturday. Danny DeKeyser scored both goals for the Red Wings with Frans Nielsen and Darren Helm assisting on both.

The Panthers scoring came off the sticks of Aaron Ekblad, Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau with Keith Yandle adding a pair of helpers. Harri Sateri stopped 26 shots for the Panthers while Petr Mrazek received the loss with 30 saves.

Canucks are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Atlantic and Canucks are 6-1 in their last 7 games playing on 2 days rest and Canucks are 2-8 in their last 10 road games. Panthers are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and over is 7-0 in Panthers last 7 vs. Western Conference and Panthers are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. a team with a losing record. Home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

This looks like a toss up but the Panthers have won three straight and get my vote at home…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
