The Panthers and Capitals meet up in Sunrise on Saturday night as the Caps look to continue their hot start and the Cats look to shake off a loss.
The Washington Capitals got another big time victory in overtime last night and are 7-2 on the year as they head into Florida to battle a tough Panthers team looking to go on a run. The Caps are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and should be in the running for the Metro division crown if they can keep up their strong team play but in an Eastern Conference show down here with the Panthers they will need a big effort out of expected starter Phillip Grubauer who will face off against Al Montoya. Washington is 3-0 on the road this season while the Panthers are 3-2 at home which should make for an exciting contest between two evenly matched teams.
The Panthers have hit a bit of a rough patch after stating off the season strong but with the roster they have and the balance of youth and experience they should be in good shape to bounce back and make a push at the playoffs. Florida has a solid goaltending tandem in Roberto Luongo and Al Montoya and a deep blue line led by second year phenom Aaron Ekblad who has already established himself as one of the best defensemen in the NHL. The Caps are tough and should make it difficult for the Panthers to find success but in this battle of back ups I am going to side with Montoya who continues to be an underrated option and I think he makes a statement here against a very good Caps offense.
