USA TODAY Sports

The San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings play Saturday at the STAPLES Center.

The San Jose Sharks need a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Sharks are averaging 2.8 goals and have scored seven goals in their last three games. The San Jose Sharks have three power play goals in their last three games and have won five of their last six when scoring at least three goals. Joe Pavelski leads San Jose with 37 goals, Logan Couture has 40 assists and Patrick Marleau has 230 shots on goal. Defensively, the Sharks are allowing 2.7 goals and have allowed a power play goal in five of their last seven games. Antti Niemi has allowed 155 goals on 1,811 shots faced and Alex Stalock has given up 51 goals on 518 shots.

The Los Angeles Kings look to snap a three-game losing streak. The Kings are averaging 2.6 goals and have scored four goals in their last three games. The Los Angeles Kings have two power play goals in their last four games and have won 16 straight when scoring at least three goals. Jeff Carter leads the Kings with 28 goals, Tyler Toffoli has 25 assists and Justin Williams has 171 shots on goal. Defensively, the Kings are allowing 2.4 goals and haven’t allowed a power play goal in four straight games. Martin Jones has allowed 29 goals on 307 shots faced and Jonathan Quick has given up 155 goals on 1,875 shots.

The Sharks are 5-2 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record and 1-7 in their last 8 Saturday games. The Kings are 9-4 in their last 13 home games and 2-7 in their last 9 vs. Western Conference. The Sharks are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings in Los Angeles and 2-6 in the last 8 meetings overall.

A matchup between two teams that fell just short on making the playoffs, so it'll be interesting to which teams show up. I'm siding with the Kings just becuase they're at home and will likely want to end the season on somewhat of a positive note.

Pick:
Los Angeles Kings
