The Kings and Ducks meet up in LA on Saturday night in a battle for top spot in the Pacific division.
The Anaheim Ducks head into Los Angeles on Saturday looking to take over top spot in the Pacific division and cement themselves as a Western Conference contender and with the win the Ducks would improve to 7-3-1 in their last 10 contests and pull to to within three points of top spot in the Western Conference. Anaheim has come along since a rocky first month of the season and have become the team many expected to be after a decent run in the playoffs a season ago and an off season in which they brought in some nice pieces. But is has been the play of one of their own, home grown talents in rookie John Gibson that has made the difference for them and with a Calder Trophy potentially on the horizon the Ducks look as good as any in the West to go to the Cup final.
The Kings meanwhile have been the class of the Pacific since the season started and have been in the conversation as a Cup contender since November but for the first time in forever they could lose their grip on the division race and fall out of the race for top spot in the Conference. Los Angeles is a very solid team that has plenty of playoff and Stanley Cup experience so it should come as no surprise that they are in the running for top spot once again this season but if they’re going to make a statement and reassure everyone of that fact they’ll need to do it against teams like Anaheim. This will be an exciting game to watch but in the end I think offensive depth plays the x-factor and that goes to the Kings.
