Los Angeles, California
The Line: Boston Bruins -129 / Los Angeles Kings +106 -- Over/Under:
The Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings meet Saturday in NHL action at the Staples Center.
The Boston Bruins look for another win after winning six of their last seven games. The Boston Bruins are averaging 2.9 goals per game and are scoring on 26.8 percent of their power play opportunities. David Pastrnak leads Boston with 31 goals, Brad Marchand has 47 assists and David Krejci has 92 shots on goal. Defensively, the Boston Bruins are allowing 2.6 goals per game and are killing 80.4 percent of their opponents power plays. Tuukka Rask has given up 70 goals on 880 shots faced and Jaroslav Halak has allowed 68 goals on 857 shots. The Boston Bruins have allowed three or less goals in six of their last eight games.
The Los Angeles Kings could use some consistency after splitting their last 12 games. The Los Angeles Kings are averaging 2.4 goals per game and are scoring on 15.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Anze Kopitar leads Los Angeles with 17 goals, Drew Doughty has 26 assists and Dustin Brown has 116 shots on goal. Defensively, the Los Angeles Kings are allowing three goals per game and are killing 75.9 percent of their opponents power plays. Jonathan Quick has given up 91 goals on 897 shots faced and Jack Campbell has allowed 34 goals on 505 shots. The Los Angeles Kings have allowed three or more goals in seven of their last nine games.
The Bruins are 7-2 in their last 9 games playing on 0 days rest, 84-39 in their last 123 Saturday games and 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite. The Kings are 7-19 in their last 26 Saturday games, 1-4 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record and 4-10 in their last 14 vs. Eastern Conference. The under is 16-6-1 in Bruins last 23 road games. The over is 8-1 in Kings last 9 overall. The Bruins are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The Los Angeles Kings are worth a look here with the plus money given the Boston Bruins are on the end of a back to back. However, it's the Bruins who are in much better form and are playing their best hockey of the season right now, which includes a shutout road win over the Ducks last night. The Bruins are really starting to heat up and looking like a squad few in this league want to face. The Los Angeles Kings are too inconsistent to think they can be a team capable of slowing things down. I'll take the hotter team and the very reasonable price.
