The Los Angeles Kings look to shake out of their woeful start as they host the Calgary Flames on Saturday night in a Pacific division show down at Staples Center.
The Flames look to salvage their California road trip and take down the slumping Los Angeles Kings in Hollywood on Saturday night after they were outlasted by the Anaheim Ducks in their last outing. Calgary is sitting in second place in the division with a 9-6-1 record but standings are changing on a nightly basis and one loss could send Calgary out of the playoff picture altogether and in a winnable game here coming off a loss you can be sure they are ready to make a statement. Mike Smith is expected to get the start here as he will face off against Jack Campbell who continues as the starting goaltender for the Kings in the absence of Jonathan Quick.
The Kings meanwhile are off to a sluggish start as they are dead last in the Western Conference with just 11 points in their first 15 games and need a shot in the arm before things get too late. Los Angeles has been dreadful on the road this season with a 1-5 mark and while they are 4-4 at home it is usually a place where the Kings beat up on teams and so far that simply isn’t happening. Los Angeles has the roster to be competitive but right now they aren’t looking like a complete team and against a younger Flames side who has plenty of energy I like Calgary as a slight road dog.
