The Carolina Hurricanes will play their third straight road game when they visit the Los Angeles Kings. This is the second and final meeting between the two teams, as the Kings won the previous meeting back in October, 2-1 in a shootout.

The Hurricanes have lost three straight games and five of their last seven. As has been the case for much of the season, they’re struggling putting the puck in the net, as they’ve scored two of fewer goals in five of their last seven games. They have also come up empty on their last 12 power play chances. Goalie Anton Khudobin has allowed three goals in each of his last two starts. The Hurricanes are 11-12-4-0 on the road this season.

The Kings have been red hot since the break, winning their first two matchups, which leads to a three-game winning streak. Remember, this is a team that lost nine of their last 10 games previously. What makes the last couple of wins impressive is that they’re doing it different ways. In the win over Colorado, they scored six goals and in the win over Calgary, they pitched a shutout. Still, this is a team that’s been shutout in three of their last nine games. The Kings are 17-10-2-1 at home this season.

This is an interesting game because you have to question just how long the run is going to last for the Kings. They’ve experienced a brutal stretch over the last month and the only thing keeping them afloat is their elite goaltending.

However, Carolina hasn’t been so hot either and has lost four of its last six road games.

The Kings are the hotter team and have won four of the last five meetings against the Hurricanes.

Give me Los Angeles at home.
