The Wild play their second game in as many nights on the west coast as they travel from Arizona to California to battle the Kings in Los Angeles.
The Wild are currently leading the Coyotes by a 4-2 mark after 40 minutes in the desert and are in cruise control for the win there but their focus is likely set on a Kings team that will prove to much more difficult than Arizona and will be a team they will be competing for a playoff spot with. Minnesota is coming off a berth in hockey's second season a year ago and actually upended the Blues in the first round before bowing out to the Blackhawks but expectations are getting dangerously close to a Cup berth or bust in Minnesota and this could be the season they break through. The Wild have some great players up front and a solid back end playing in front of Devan Dubnyk but they see a carbon copy of themselves tonight as the Kings play a very similar style and will be among the league's best by season's end. Darcy Kuemper will get the call as he will go up against Jonathan Quick.
The Kings head into Friday night's encounter with the Wild sitting in second to last in the Pacific division as they have yet to record a victory through three games but are still favourites in this one against another Western Conference foe. L.A. has a great chance at returning to the playoffs after watching last season from the side lines and with their core still mostly in tact and their heavy line of Milan Lucic, Anze Kopitar, and Marian Gaborik leading the way they won't be short on offense potential. The Kings have dropped three straight but much like we saw from the Bruins earlier this week they have to get in the win column soon and this sets up to be a perfect spot as they face a Minnesota team coming off a game last night.
