The Nashville Predators look to end their mini two game slide as they head into Los Angeles to face off against the Kings on Thursday night.
The Preds have hit a bit of a speed bump late in the season and they will look to right the ship on Thursday as they face off against a Kings side who is 25 points behind them in the standings and sits in dead last in the Western Conference. Nashville is coming off a disappointing loss to the Anaheim Ducks and have seen their grip on top spot in the Central division slip away as they are now a point behind the Winnipeg Jets and have played two additional games which could come into play as the season draws near a close. Nashville is also feeling the heat from the surging St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars are making waves as well so the Preds know they can ill afford to lose any more winnable games and this one certainly falls into that category.
The Kings meanwhile have had a season to forget and are tied for the second worst record in the NHL with just 58 points and if not for the complete demolition of the Ottawa Senators roster they could very well have landed the worst mark in the game. Los Angeles has a handful of talented pieces and aren’t too far removed from being a powerhouse in the Western Conference but this season certainly hasn’t gone their way and they will need a full revamp in the offseason. The Kings are coming off a win but they are 9-25 in their last 34 contests after a victory and are facing a Preds side here looking to shake out of a slump and one who has won 5 straight contests at the Staples Center.
The Predators are 2-5 in their last 7 road games and are 5-2 in their last 7 against the Pacific while the Kings are 3-13 in their last 16 overall and 1-6 in their last 7 home games. A lot of early money is on the Kings but they are in trouble here as the Preds have no issue getting back in the win column here.
