The Nashville Predators visit the Staples Center for an NHL hockey tilt with the Los Angeles Kings.
The Nashville Predators need to make quick turnaround from a little slide that has the team and their fans hoping a slump is not coming. The Predators dropped number three in a row following a 4-4, shootout defeat at the Honda Center and the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. The Preds scoring came from Filip Forsberg, Ryan Ellis and Colin Wilson with Pekka Rinne absorbing the defeat despite 39 saves. Patrick Eaves paced the Ducks offense with the only goal in the SO while logging two assists with Ryan Getzlaf, Richard Rakell and Nick Ritchie also joining the scoring column. Jonathan Bernier recorded 24 stops to pick up the victory for Anaheim.
The Los Angeles Kings need a few wins and with struggling Vancouver coming to town on Saturday, the time seemed right to start a hot streak. However, things didn’t go as planned as the Canucks skated off with a 4-3 victory behind balanced scoring. Vancouver saw Sven Baertschi light the lamp two times with Nikolay Goldobin and Henrik Sedin also scoring. Ryan Miller came up with a 41 save performance and Vancouver’s four game slide came to an end. The Kings scoring came off the sticks of Anze Kopitar, Trevor Lewis and Alec Martinez while Ben Bishop absorbed the loss on 17 saves as Los Angeles failed to pick up ground in the race for the second Wild Card.
The over is 4-0 in Predators last 4 vs. Pacific and the over is 8-0 in Predators last 8 vs. Western Conference while the over is 7-0 in Predators last 7 vs. a team with a losing record. The Kings are 1-7 in their last 8 games playing on 3 or more days rest and the Kings are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Central while the over is 4-1-2 in Kings last 7 vs. Central. The Predators are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and the over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles has fared well in this match up and goals have been scored so I lean over until goalies are confirmed…
