The Blues and Kings meet up in Hollywood as two of the best teams in the league look to make a statement on the big stage.
The Blues head into Los Angeles coming off a loss – just their fourth regulation defeat all season but remain in second place in the Central division trailing only the Chicago Blackhawks and can make a statement on the road against a very physical Kings team. St. Louis builds from the crease out as they have spectacular goaltending, one of the best blue lines in the league, a great transition game, and a well balanced offense that doesn’t get enough respect making them one of the most dangerous teams in the league. However, they will have to play their A-game here if they want to upend the Kings as LA is coming off a shootout loss that they should have won and will be irritated to say the least coming into this one. Jaroslav Halak matches up with Ben Scrivens in what should be a low scoring affair between two solid teams.
The Kings head into tonight’s contest sitting in third place in the very competitive Pacific division as they trail both the Sharks and the Ducks but have a chance to close the gap with a win at home tonight. Los Angeles continues to be one of the favourites to not only win the Pacific division but also the Western Conference and the Stanley Cup as they have the experience and work ethic to win in hockey’s second season and there are very few who can argue the Kings aren’t going to compete even if they don’t have Jonathan Quick in the crease. St. Louis is certainly one of the best teams in the league and they have been solid on the road winning 7 of their first 10 games away from home but the good teams know what it takes to win in their barn. While I don’t like the odds as St. Louis is a much better team than given credit for here I like the Kings to rebound and I think they get the win at the Staples Center.
