St. Louis Blues (35-27-5) at Los Angeles Kings (37-25-5)
|Date & Time||Saturday March 10, 2018, 4:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Los Angeles Kings -150 / St. Louis Blues +136 --- Over/Under: 5
Saturday NHL action features the St. Louis Blues visiting the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.
The St. Louis Blues were once a lock for the postseason but have fallen in to a deep slump and have yet to right the ship. St. Louis has dropped nine of ten where neither end of the ice has been able to come through. That trend continued in a 2-0 loss at San Jose on Thursday where the team suffered their third shutout in this stretch.
Mikkel Boedker gave the Sharks the only goal they would need on the power play at 12:12 of the third before T:omas Hertl secured the victory with his empty net tally with only 15 seconds remaining. Martin Jones picked up the win for San Jose with 16 stops while Jake Allen allowed a goal on 35 shots to absorb the loss.
The Los Angeles Kings have enjoyed a nice surge over the past few weeks with wins in seven of ten where the scoring and defense have been contributing. Los Angeles comes in off of a 3-1 win versus Washington where Jacob Vrana scored a second period goal for the Capitals.
The Kings received scoring off the sticks of Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis for a 2-0 lead before Kyle Clifford scored on the empty net with just 18 seconds remaining in regulation. Jonathan Quick picked up the win for Los Angeles with 25 saves while Phillip Grubauer took the loss with 26 stops.
Blues are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and Blues are 0-7 in their last 7 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Blues are 0-9 in their last 9 vs. a team with a winning record. Over is 8-0 in Kings last 8 Saturday games and Kings are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and over is 4-1 in Kings last 5 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. Blues are 2-12 in the last 14 meetings in Los Angeles and under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and Blues are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Blues won but I’m going with surging Los Angeles to keep their run going…
