Tuesday night NHL brings us a west coast matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and the Vancouver Canucks.
The Vancouver Canucks play their 4th consecutive road game when the team faces the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center. Vancouver has had a rough several weeks with losses in five of seven after a 5-0 loss at the San Jose Sharks on Saturday might.
The Canucks struggled at both ends of the ice and the Sharks took full advantage with Chris Tierney and Logan Couture each scoring two times with Tomas Hertl also finding the back of the net. Hertl logged a pair of helpers and Aaron Dell picked up his second career shutout with 41 stops.
The Canucks did put plenty of rubber on the San Jose goal so the offense worked hard but the Sharks scored twice when down a man. Jacob Markstrom was charged with four goals on 30 shots to absorb the loss for Vancouver.
The Los Angeles Kings look to regain their early season success when the Vancouver Canucks take the ice on Tuesday. Los Angeles has dropped four of six following a 2-1 loss to the visiting San Jose Sharks on Sunday night.
The Kings were not able to generate enough offense and their back to back defeats was the first time the team has lost two straight in 2017-18. Dustin Brown gave the LA Kings a 1-0 lead on a power play goal at 8:30 of the first with Melker Karlsson tying the score at 5:42 of the third.
Joel Ward tallied the game winner at 12:50 of the third period and Martin Jones did the rest with 26 saves to get the win for the Sharks while Jonathan Quick absorbed the loss despite a 31 stop performance.
Over is 5-1-1 in Canucks last 7 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game and under is 4-1 in Canucks last 5 road games and under is 4-1 in Canucks last 5 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Kings are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 6-1-3 in Kings last 10 vs. Western Conference and over is 5-1 in Kings last 6 overall. Canucks are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings in Los Angeles and under is 18-8-9 in the last 35 meetings.
The Kings have appear to be cooling off from a hot start but we shall see. While waiting for goalies I’ll back the Kings or under...
