The Los Angeles Kings look to stop the bleeding as they welcome the Winnipeg Jets to the Staples Center on Tuesday night.
The Winnipeg Jets look for their 6th win in a row away from home as they head into Los Angeles to do battle with the Kings who have been one of the league’s worst teams to start the season. However, the Jets have to weary not to get caught in a let down spot as they are coming off an overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning in what was certainly a statement to the rest of the NHL that they Jets are not just one of the best teams in the league but a serious threat to win the Stanley Cup this season. The Jets are loaded at both ends of the rink and match up very well against a Kings side who will look to play a physical game and take away the highly skilled forwards of the Jets. Winnipeg is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the Pacific division while the home side is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in this series.
The Kings meanwhile have fallen on hard times as they have long been a contender in the Western Conference but they are looking like a far cry from the group that has 2 Stanley Cup titles in recent memory and in this one they run the risk of looking like it. The Kings are a woeful 6-17 in their last 23 games against the Western Conference and are 3-7 in their last 10 home games which is never a good recipe for success in the standings and the odds makers are expecting that record to take another hit tonight. The Kings are 2-7 in their last 9 against the Central division and the Over is 4-1-2 in the last 7 meetings at the Staples Center between these two sides so if history is any indicator the goal judges should be busy tonight.
The Jets are 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win and are 42-20 in their last 62 games overall while the Kings are 11-28 in their last 39 games overall and are 2-8 in their last 10 Tuesday games. The Kings are in tough here as the Jets are one of the league’s top teams and they show it once again here with a convincing road win.
