The Boston Bruins look to improve their road record as they head into Minnesota to take on a disappointed Wild side who is officially eliminated from the playoffs.

The Bruins are locked into second place in the Atlantic division and will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in the opening round and will likely take a cautious approach to the last 2 games of the regular season. Boston heads into Minnesota on Thursday night looking for their 20th road victory of the season but it won’t come easy against a Minnesota team who left things a little too late for their playoff push and will be heading to the golf course earlier than anticipated this season. Boston is 6-2 in their last 8 meetings with the Wild and have the much better roster top to bottom but as we mentioned don’t be surprised to see if the B’s have a different lineup here with some of their top end guys spending the next few games getting rest and avoiding injury.

The Wild have been a huge disappointment at home this season and it is a huge reason why they have underachieved in the NHL’s Central division. Minny is coming off a huge 5-1 win over their rivals from Winnipeg but that result is skewed a little bit as they were still mathematically alive in the Western Conference playoffs and now that they are officially out of the running we could see a very different Wild side at home in this spot against Boston. The Wild are 16-17-7 at home this season which makes them only 1 of 3 teams in the entire NHL that have a losing record at home and for those who were in the mix for the postseason it simply is not good enough.

The Bruins are going to face off with the Leafs and while every game still matters I see this being a chance for the Wild to take out some frustrations against a Bruins side who doesn’t have anything to play for.

Pick:
Minnesota Wild -110
