The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to find a groove with a visit to the Minnesota Wild. Chicago comes off of a 3-0 victory at the United Center versus the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.
A scoreless first was followed by a two goal second period burst by the Blackhawks with Artem Anisimov opening the scoring at 8:58 with the man advantage before Jonathan Toews doubled the advantage on an unassisted tally only 20 seconds later.
Alex Debrincat scored an empty netter while Artem Anisimov added a pair of helpers and Cory Crawford improved to 6-4 with 35 stops to lift Chicago to the win. Brian Elliott fell to 5-3-1 with 32 saves as the Flyers could not generate any offense.
The Minnesota Wild welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to town for the second meeting between the clubs in 2017-18. Minnesota has been playing well with wins in three of four after waffling the Montreal Canadiens 6-3 on Thursday night.
The Wild were far too much offensively with six different players lighting the lamp. The balanced Minnesota attack received scoring from Tyler Ennis, Nino Niederreiter, Matt Cullen, Ryan Suter, Marcus Foligno and Jared Spurgeon. Matt Dumba, Mikko Koivu and Mikael Granlund posted two assists each while Devan Dubnyk lifted the Wild to the win with 28 stops.
The Canadiens were denied their 4th win in five outings with the defense unable to step up. Brendan Gallagher scored two times and Andrew Shaw also lit the lamp but Carey Price was charged with five goals on 26 shots.
